                               DETAILS ON DISCUSSION PAPERS

THE RULES:

 - Focused on required readings for the week, as listed in the syllabus
 - Due at the beginning of class on Tuesdays
 - No late or make-up submissions will be accepted
 - Extra Credit submissions will be available for week 11 and week 16 – please see the  
   syllabus for additional information

CONTENT:

For each paper, include the following:

 - Your name
 - Author, year reading/s was published, and title of the reading/s
 - What is the main topic or question dealt with in this reading?
 - What are the main conclusions the author draws?
 - At least 2 issues suitable for class discussion (points of disagreement, comparisons with 
other readings, questions you have about the reading, etc); these should reflect your
careful reading and analysis of the reading/article

FORMAT:

 - Must be typed
 - Length = 1 page (12 point font size, and one-inch margins on all sides)
 - Between 150 and 200 words (Microsoft Word has a "word counter" under the tools
   menu)
 - Write in regular prose (full sentences, etc.)

GRADING:

 - Each discussion paper is worth a maximum of 10 points each
